Review: Between Seasons

Between Seasons by Aida Brassington

Book Summary:

Patrick Boyle dies in the fall of 1970, just days before he's due to report for the Vietnam War draft, which seems like a good thing until he realizes he's stuck in the house with no indication of when he'll be escorted to heaven. And after his parents leave the house, he's trapped without company -- until a mysterious woman who can channel his memories buys the house forty years later. The spring brings with it new life, but falling in love with the new owner may only bring heartbreak to them both

Review:

1. Cover -

I wasn’t very much overwhelmed by the Book Cover. When I first saw it, I thought it was a war story or something like that. But I have to say that it’s still a good cover.

2. Plot -

The story was about Patrick Boyle who dies before he was sent to the Vietnam war. The book revolved about Patrick’s life as a ghost, stuck in his empty house for years until it was finally bought by Sara years later and he realized how much time has already passed since he died.
The pacing is too slow for me and I’ve been looking forward for the moment that Sara will finally interact with Patrick but that happened when I was at least 60 or 70% of the book.

3. Character Development -

I like Patrick. He’s funny and charming at times, although I didn’t see much improvement until the end of the book. Sara was heartbroken, and you can see how much she’s in pain and how she wanted to escape from it. As you read, you’ll see how she’s able to cope up with everything that’s happened to her with the help of Patrick.

4. Over-all Rating -
Over all it was a fun and light read for me. Not bad, but not that amazing either.
